KINGMAKERS MUSIC IS A YOUTH BASED, FULL SERVICE RECORD LABEL POWERED BY KINGMAKERS OF OAKLAND.

WE MAKE MOVEMENT MUSIC THAT IS CULTURALLY RELEVANT, PROFANITY FREE, CREATED WITH UNIQUE STYLE AND FRESHNESS FROM ARTISTS ROOTED IN OAKLAND CALIFORNIA, AND THE BAY AREA OVERALL.

OUR TEAM

  • Christopher Chatmon is the Director and CEO of Kingmakers of Oakland (KOO). Chatmon founded KOO and served as the first Executive Director of the African American Male Achievement (“AAMA”) for the Oakland Unified School District (“OUSD”).

  • Director of Youth Voice & Leadership & Kingmakers Music

    Jahi is an international artist, educator and curator based in Oakland, California.

    As a founding member of Kingmakers of Oakland, Jahi returns to run Kingmakers Music as well as Youth Voice and Leadership. As an educator, Jahi served as Program Manager for African American Male Achievement in the Oakland Unified School District, as well as mentoring Black youth in Oakland/Bay Area for two decades.

    As an artist, Jahi has released numerous albums on independent and major labels, runs his own publishing company, has toured on 10 world tours, and has countless performances all over the United States representing socially conscious Hip Hop. As a curator, Jahi has curated exhibits at the DeYoung Museum, the Oakland Museum of California, the Black Panther Party Museum, as well as traveling to 20 museums around the world presenting Hip Hop as a culture with life affirming principles.

    Jahi is a father, enjoys playing chess and ornithology.

  • MC, WRITER, A&R AND PIONEERING ARTIST OF KINGMAKERS MUSIC. ZO1 DESCRIBES HIS RHYME STYLE AS  LYRICAL, EXPERIMENTAL, CONSCIOUS, INTROSPECTIVE AND UNIQUE. HE LIKES HIS LYRICS TO STAND OUT AND BE  DISTINCT WHILE ALSO BEING IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE MUSICAL VIBRATION. HE ALSO LIKES TO SING AND ADD MELODIC ELEMENTS TO SONGS AS AN EXAMPLE OF HIS RANGE. ZO1 HAS PERFORMED IN GHANA AND ALL  OVER THE CARIBBEAN WITH OAKLAND YOUTH GROUP YOUNG GIFTED AND BLACK. HE HAS ALSO PERFORMED ON SHADE 45’S MORNING SHOW “SWAY IN THE MORNING.” HIS WRITING AND CREATIVE EXPRESSION IS  INFORMED BY LIFE EXPERIENCES, HOW HE ENVISIONS THE WORLD, AND USES STORYTELLING AS A WAY TO  CONVEY MULTILAYERED MESSAGES TO EMPOWER OTHERS. 

    ZO1 HAS SHARED THE SAME STAGE WITH SOULS OF MISCHIEF, T-PAIN, BLACKSTAR, AND MISTAH FAB, ALONG  WITH SOME OF HIS PEERS AND CONTEMPORARIES INCLUDING 9LETTERS (RIP), SINQ, B.DEVEAUX AND JADA  IMANI. ZO1 IS ON A MISSION TO CREATE TIMELESS MUSIC TO UPLIFT THE GLOBAL COMMUNITY. HE ALSO IS THE LEAD FEATURED ARTIST AND A&R FOR “BLACK LOVE” THE LATEST ALBUM BY KINGMAKERS MUSIC.  KEY WORD ABOUT HIS MUSICAL EXPRESSION -
